My House With Tornado Damage [PICS]
By Caveman on February 6th, 2008 in Tornado'd House
As I mention earlier today, my house was hit early this morning by a tornado. The roof was ripped off, the railings from the deck were torn off and other damage. Here are the pics of the devastation.

*Update* Read the entire story of my Tornado’d House.

Woah… Caveman… I was about to give you grief for not writing in the last couple days and I check in and see this!
So glad no one was hurt… scary stuff… You need anything? Can I help in any way?
How did the rest of your town/neighborhood fair?

Man those tornados are bizarre. I’m so glad your house wasn’t completely flattened! It looks weirdly like a gigantic knife just sliced certain parts off. It must have been so LOUD…terrifying at the very least. I hope you all are still doing well!
Once again, please just say if you need anything, or I can do anything.

Thanks bro. One neighbor got hit worse than me, one less than me, and one not at all. It is bizarre indeed how it skips some and demolishes others. I have good insurance (I think), my agent is my neighbor and came by right after the tornado to fill me in and tells me that he’ll take care of me. He is a good guy and I trust him. I think all will be well. He sent guys out today to put tarps over the damaged roof until it can be replaced.
@Karen
Thanks sunshine! It was loud. It was crazy loud. I wouldn’t use the cliche about sounding like a train… ok, maybe it did, but it sounded like a really big ass train running right through my bedroom. Any other night, that same sound can be heard in the bedroom, but is instead normally due to the Caveman’s virile appetite for the requisite presleep display of sexual liberalism.

Sorry to hear about your house. From the looks of those pictures you’re lucky to be alive. On the bright side, you’ve still got most of your roof and the house wasn’t a total loss.

Dang! What a crazy, raw thing. So sorry it happened to you. Good for you for living in a house and not a trailer! Glad you are safe. Hang in there.

Very glad to hear everyone is ok. I went through a tornado once, hands down the scariest, most helpless-feeling event of my life.
Hope everything goes well and smoothly for you in the coming days of repair and clean up.

Hey Caveman, I am glad you and your family survived. I hope things get fixed soon and you can go back to a normal life.

Been reading your blog since you started it (came over from tom coffee) and I’m sorry about your home.
I still want a god damn caveman conclusion. hit me

Crap dude.
Don’t miss the opportunity to have someone take a picture of you on the roof wielding a sledge hammer - caption: “Caveman smash!”
Glad you’re ok - and blogging.
Nice house by the way!

Thank you Claire.
@Seb
You’re right man, kinda had other things on my mind. I added the conclusion just for you. Thanks for readin’.
@Jason
Thanks. Good idea, wish I owned a sledge hammer.

thank you

Glad to hear you’re all alright. It’s pretty amazing how certain parts of the house get damaged and other parts look untouched. Would the damage have been worse if you didn’t have brick siding?
One suggestion I can give you - buy some fucking trees for your yard already!
February 7th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I know dude, I will, it’s a new house! If I had trees they probably would have been demolished like my neighbor’s trees were. I’m still trying to get grass to grow in some areas.

Back when I had a new house (before buying the renovation project we moved into a year ago), the best money I spent on the outside of the house was for a professional landscape plan. Lot of planting beds meant less grass for me to grow.
